James gave me 1987.

Well let's see, I would have been 4 and 5 during this year. This means it was a pretty big year. First of all, early in the year I had to go up to the IWK for a bunch of tests and stuff, they were mostly non-scary and I was a very good girl for my brain scans. (It says so on them, the technician wrote "Good Girl, Adrienne!!" and drew a big smiley face, because I was 4 and I stayed very still and quiet for an hour. That is impressive, y'all. Also in 1987 I started school. I loved school and I loved my teacher Mrs. MacKinnon. She was awesome. On the first day of school I was interviewed for the CBC and that was pretty cool too. (So was Natalie...we're CBC superstars or something.) Otherwise I guess I pretty much did Grade Primary things. I really liked colouring and Mrs. MacKinnon was impressed that I could already read and write before I started school. Heh.
I rocked. I miss Grade Primary.





PS: Dot is at the vet getting spayed and I am worried about her. Poor kitty.

so far my birthday gifts have shown just what an awkward age this is. am i a grown up, am i still a fool?

i have received money, money specifically for a veil, a wedding album (kinda like a baby book, but for a wedding), a pink spikey cactus toy that has hurt me already but is super cute and i am currently waiting for the ups man to show up with my wicked sneakers. (also jonathan and i are going to the mall later to get me presents that will go with my wicked sneakers.)

i am an adult.....but i don't want to be. :)

on saturday we are buying my grandmother's car from her while she buys a new one. hers is in excellent condition and so so much better than the 88 taurus. (sorry taurus, you know i love you...but you're a little ...unreliable)

it's scary spending big amounts of money. being a grown-up is hard.

but we'll have a honda civic with about 46000 kms on it.

I had a pretty great Valentine's Day this year. Now we didn't do anything PARTICULARLY special...but it was still just a really nice day.
The cat had been a huge jerk the night before and resulted in JonJon getting no sleep so he stayed home from work for a while to catch up on his sleep a bit. This resulted in him staying home all day and sleeping while I had a wicked bath and cleaned the house a bit. (and I made a chocolate cake with heart jujubes on it because i am a sweety).

When he got up and realized it was far too late to go to work even for a little while we played some Guitar Hero and then he went out to get us some "coffees"....he DID get coffees but he also came back with a beautiful bunch of flowers for me! (Those of you that know JonJon well will know that that is kind of a big deal...he is not a flowers kind of guy....I love flowers)

Anyway, we continued our lazy day of Guitar Hero and Warcraft and all that and then we headed out to CBU for improv practice...but no one showed up I guess because it was V-Day or something whatever.

So we went to DQ for supper and waffle bowl sundaes and then we rented a movie. AND I got to pick a girly romantic comedy. Yay!!! So, of course I picked Love Actually because it is wonderful and I figured he'd actually like it too. Yes, I know it is a Christmas movie, but it is also the best romantic comedy there is.

Yay! A very stereotypical but very sweet day!

Less than 9 months to the wedding.....i can't get preggers now! LOL

i could have far worse jobs. i mean, i get to talk to little old ladies all day and ask what they're making and get tips and stuff and i do get discounts....but i also get way too many hours for my liking.

yes, most people WANT more hours.

i worry that i am a lazy lazy useless person sometimes because i would be rather content with half the hours.

sure i like that i get pretty good paycheques because of my all hours....but i would rather have more lazy time and more jonjon time and more planning time and more taking the cat to the vet time.

today my boss was asking me some stuff about the wedding and about my plans for the near future and all that.....cuz the assistant manager is preggers (yay!) but she's gonna need leave....and that means that a few of us are gonna get more hours and more responsibilities while she's off....and i'm one of them.

fuckity fuck fuck...i want more sleep time. not more work time.

at least i do know i am an awesome employee....i mean i still have my employee in training nametag and they want me taking over assistant manager jobs while she's off.

i tried on dresses this morning...i hadn't planned on it but i'm so glad i did. mommy and i were just going to the delta to see the ballroom and all and to meet with their dude and all that...yes the reception is going to be at the delta ballroom....it's so swanky!!

anyway, that all went so well that we had extra time and then mom suggested we go have a look...well we did. i tried on 3. the first was just too similar to my prom dress. it was very very pretty, but too prommy. the second was amazing. it had a pick-up skirt and made me look tiny and was kinda too big so i would have to go down a size, but it still looked awesome. i looked like a princess. i put on a veil and mommy cried but tried to hide it. i liked the pick-up skirt because it looked like a cloud.
the third dress...well the third dress i cannot tell you much about...because i am probably going to get it. it was...it was just wow....i never would have chosen it off the rack....but then...omg...i think i may be in love with the third dress...even though hemming it will be hell for the poor lady because it will have to be hemmed from the waistline (sorry about that hemming-lady, i can't help it that i am damn short)

i am amazed, i thought that it would be really hard, but this dress thing seems to be really pain free so far...the one i like is even under $800. (Sorry JonJon, I know if you read that you almost fell off the chair...but I promise, that is a REALLY good price for a wedding dress)

I'm getting married.

JonJon proposed. And he did it in a big way.

As you may know, we have both been involved with A Christmas Carol at the Savoy. (I was stage manager and later took over the part of the charwoman who steals Scrooge's stuff once he dies and JonJon was Fred - Scrooge's nephew.)
Sunday was our last show and it was also mine and JonJon's 5th anniversary. AWWWWW.

I suspected nothing.

After the play, during curtain call, Scrooge steps forward and is all like. "Everyone please hold on, there is something special we have to do." I assume he is going to call Brian - the director - up, so he can be acknowledged. Then Greg (Scrooge) says "I'd like to call a member of the cast forward if I may, Adrienne could you come up in front please?" So I do and I am still assuming it's for some reason like thanking me for taking of the part of the charwoman on short notice and still being the stage director or something like that. Then he calls JonJon forward as well and says that JonJon has something to say.

This is about where I say "Oh Shit" and then he gets on one knee and I cry...I cry a lot...there is stage make up running down my face. I don't really remember a lot after that. I know I was happy when the curtains FINALLY closed and then there was white wine in Tim Horton's cups out of no where and there is a lot of hugging. One of the little Cratchits asked to be a bridesmaid. My dad approved (he was also in the play) but told JonJon he lost out on his goat dowry by not asking first. Um my mom was stage crew so she was also there and she was uber huggy. It's so weird that it happened in front of so many people....but he did it beautifully.

Also, since it happened in front of an audience I have been sent some pictures of it happening. I don't have any really good ones yet but I do have a blurry one that showcases the hilarity of what I was wearing contrasted to what JonJon was wearing....as we were still in costume clearly. And yes, I do have a picture of my ring my FABULOUS SHINEY RING!!!!! and yes I am wearing a Dropkick Murphys shirt with it. That is because I am awesome.

Ok I'm not so awesome, because I dunno how to put pictures in....when JonJon gets home I'll make him edit it for me to add the pictures. heh, he really IS useful!!

Still looking for work and busy with A Christmas Carol. Still irritated with people who seem bent on ruining any group dynamic that was there. I know I'm not totally innocent with it all though and that upsets me too...though not as much as being hated for no reason upsets me. :P

Improv U's Spooktacular (2) was last night and it was fun. I came 3rd in the costume contest. (though personally i think i shoulda came before 1st because my costume was just that awesome.)

i don't have pictures yet, but when i get them i will post them because i'm pretty proud of this costume. yay!

NaNoWriMo starts on Wednesday and I have some ideas floating around. I hope that I can keep my enthusiasm up for it, as well as have time for it around A Christmas Carol and all that.

Busy, busy, busy!

i find it very frustrating that pretty much the first question that anyone asks me since i got home from guelph is "and what are you doing now?" i hate having to say that i am still looking for work. i feel like such a failure every time someone asks me...and i feel as if i have let eveyone down somehow. i mean sure i could be working right now...but i would be working at mcdonalds or tim hortons or irving or something and i don't want to do that yet. i am going to keep looking for "a big kid job" until my pogey runs out or until i get said job. the thing is, this is cape breton and there are not very many big kid jobs that come up and those that do are often already filled even before the position is advertised. it is an uphill battle to break into the 'big kid job force' here.

but i can't really go off on this tyrade every time someone asks me what i'm doing now....or else i'll look crazy...crazy and unemployed. fuck.

my lappy is back and it will be nice to be able to use it again. i mean...i didn't really NEED to have it back, but it made me very very sad that it was broken and now i can use it again and it will probably be useful for gaming and dammit i just feel better now that i know it is ok. i spent a LOT of time working with that laptop..and sometimes over the past 2 years it was like my only means of survival because it was what kept me connected to jonjon and to mary (and others...but mostly to them) it had diversions on it that kept me half-way sane. sure i didn't stay completely sane...but i think things would have been much worse without my link to home.

also, it would have been hard to write a thesis without a computer. so, thank you, lappy...i'm glad you have a brain again. i'm sorry you forget everything...but i will help you to learn.

also, i am wicked stoked for dressing up on hallowe'en. i love to dress up in general and i am pretty excited about this year's costume anyway! (i just hope i can get it finished in time!!)
